A 2nd negotiation meeting was held today with all the trade unions.
The purpose of the meeting was to negotiate the terms and conditions for the information-consultation procedure on the project to transform the Aluminium Dunkerque organisation.
Following the discussions on 17 April, senior management presented the trade unions with a draft text in response to their request, postponing negotiations on social measures to accompany voluntary departures to a date after the opening of the industrial part.
Today’s discussions and exchanges between the trade unions and senior management made progress on a draft text. The issues addressed are as follows:
- Organisation of the Central Works Committee meetings and provisional timetable
- Works committee and CHSCT expertise
- Means of communication between trade union organisations and employees
- Additional resources available to trade union delegates
Senior management had agreed that the trade unions would be advised by the Works committee expert for these negotiation meetings. As such, the draft text presented by senior management was examined by the Expert and proposals for improvement were made. Senior management would include the proposals when signing the agreement.
The trade unions wished to have a period of reflection until 2 May (date of the 3rd negotiation meeting) to take a position on signing the agreement.
The purpose of signing this agreement is not to obtain the support of the Trade Unions for the economic arguments presented by management, nor for the envisaged economic and social measures. The agreement would make it possible to define the procedures and timetable for the information-consultation procedure.
The notice of meeting and the industrial part document containing the economic justification and details of the 65 impacted jobs were sent to the members of the Works Committee today with a view to the extraordinary meeting on 6 May.
In accordance with French law and until the meeting on 6 May, the trade unions and the works committee secretary have acknowledged the confidential nature of all the information contained in the industrial part document.
Senior management favours industrial relations dialogue, which is essential for the smooth running of this project in the interests of everyone.
