Works committee information on the 22 May 2014 meeting

The Aluminium Dunkerque works committee met this Thursday 22 May 2014 following the Aluminium Pechiney works committee meeting of 20 May to discuss the opening of the social part.
Discussions focused on:

  • the conditions and social measures to support employees volunteering to leave to begin a professional project.
  • supporting employees in setting up new organisations and maintaining core business skills.

Remember that the methods agreement signed between the 4 trade union organisations and senior management provides for these social measures to be negotiated during 3 meetings scheduled for 2, 16 July and 28 August 2014.

To date, the right to voluntary departure is open to all employees with open-ended contracts occupying a position that can be eliminated in the impacted professional categories. The social measures proposed by senior management are as follows:

I have found a position within the group

– Specific internal mobility compensation of €25.000 – Adaptation period of 2 months & payment of travel expenses – Training to adapt to the new job if necessary (max. 3 months) – A reconnaissance trip in the event of geographical mobility in mainland France

– Employment assistance for the employee’s spouse: either one-off compensation of €12,000 gross; or assistance from an outplacement firm and compensation of €6,000 gross.

I want to take a long training course

– Voluntary departure compensation: between 12 and 30 months depending on seniority – Financing of the cost of the training course up to a maximum of €35,000 excluding VAT

I can retire

– The employees concerned will receive compensation equivalent to that which would have been paid for economic redundancy.- This compensation will be increased as follows:- 3 months if the employee has spent more than 10 years in the job or on call-duty- 2 months if the employee has spent between 5 and 10 years in the job or on call-duty

I would like to retire in the near future

– The terms and conditions of any Senior Leave Arrangement will be discussed as part of the negotiation of a majority agreement.

I have found a job outside the group

– Voluntary departure compensation:

– Financial assistance of €11,000 for the hiring company – If necessary, training to adapt to the new job for a maximum of 3 months – A reconnaissance trip in the event of geographical mobility in mainland France – Employment assistance for the employee’s spouse: either one-off compensation of €12,000 gross; or assistance from an outplacement firm and compensation of €6,000 gross.

I want to set up or take over a business

– Voluntary departure compensation: between 12 and 30 months depending on the employee’s seniority – Financial assistance in setting up a business:- Additional compensation of €27,000 gross for setting up or taking over a business.- This specific compensation will be increased by €5,000 gross for employees aged 50 or over on the date the termination agreement is signed

– An additional €8,000 gross if the business start-up/takeover project requires investment or the creation of working capital.

Remember that these social measures will be negotiated with the trade unions. We undertake to keep you regularly informed of the progress of these negotiations.
