Aluminium Dunkerque, represented by its Managing Director Guillaume de Goÿs, took part in the Rencontre des Entrepreneurs de France, organised by the MEDEF, on the theme of ‘Climate: the power to adapt’. It was an opportunity to discuss concrete solutions for adapting to climate change, while discovering new tools that will help businesses to meet this challenge. One crucial point to emerge from the discussions was the distinction between adaptation and mitigation. While mitigation aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to curb global warming, adaptation involves anticipating and responding to the already inevitable impacts of this phenomenon. The two approaches are complementary, but require distinct strategies. At Aluminium Dunkerque, our mitigation strategy is based on our LowCal roadmap, while our adaptation actions focus on the sustainable management of resources and the resilience of our business model. For us, this means prioritising concrete actions such as recycling and sustainable water management
