At Aluminium Dunkerque’s initiative, 9 manufacturers and Ecosystème D have joined forces to create a series of live radio broadcasts from the 40th Dunkerque Motor Show. The aim was to illustrate the concept of decarbonisation, which is somewhat abstract for the average citizen, through everyday products.

The ‘Autumn Meetings 2024’ organised by European Aluminium, the umbrella organisation for the entire aluminium value chain in Europe, brought together the key players in our industry in Brussels from 15 to 17 October. Discussions focused on the priorities of the new European Commission and access to competitive, low-carbon electricity.

On Friday 08 November, Aluminium Dunkerque was present at the Fabuleuse Factory ‘On Tour’, a variation of the traditional Fabuleuse Factory held annually in September in Dunkerque. This was an opportunity to reach out to the public in the Pas-de-Calais and western Dunkirk areas.

High-purity aluminium from Aluminium Dunkerque
Aluminium Dunkerque is currently developing an aluminium with a purity level of between 99.98% and 99.998% pure aluminium. Intended for the semiconductor, capacitor and battery markets, it will be launched on the market in 2027. Total capacity will be around 3,000 tonnes per year, once the 5 casting units are up and running. Production trials will take place in mid-2025. Like the rest of our range, this is a low-carbon aluminium, a key criterion for our customers.
Great success for our Family Day
On Saturday 28 September, Aluminium Dunkerque organised a Family Day, an event that gave the 171 registered employees the opportunity to introduce their families to the company and its production process. The day’s programme for the 600 guests included tours of the company, musical entertainment, inflatable structures, games for young and old and continuous catering.

Aluminium Dunkerque at the heart of discussions on adapting to climate change
Aluminium Dunkerque, represented by its Managing Director Guillaume de Goÿs, took part in the Rencontre des Entrepreneurs de France, organised by the MEDEF, on the theme of ‘Climate: the power to adapt’. It was an opportunity to discuss concrete solutions for adapting to climate change, while discovering new tools that will help businesses to meet this challenge. One crucial point to emerge from the discussions was the distinction between adaptation and mitigation.
A new school year, a new class of work-study students!
While the class of 2023 of our work-study students gathered for a last moment of conviviality and a graduation ceremony with their tutors, 34 new work-study students started their training in September.
Today, there are a total of 64 work-study students working at Aluminium Dunkerque, from all sectors and support services.

Aluminium Dunkerque, stopover on the press trip organised by RTE
As part of the press trip they organised to Dunkirk on 12 September, the RTE teams wanted to offer a visit to an industrial site and chose Aluminium Dunkirk. We welcomed journalists from Les Echos, Le Figaro, Libération and AFP to our site. The aim was to illustrate the challenges of decarbonisation, which is considerably increasing the region’s electricity needs.

Organized by Reuters Event in Amsterdam on May 22 and 23, 2024, the “Industrial Decarbonisation Europe” meeting brought together European leaders from sectors whose carbon footprint is difficult to reduce, to foster collaboration around Net Zero action on an industrial scale.

Greenpower Challenge: Aluminium Dunkerque behind the Grande Synthe automotive school
